Make way for the ladies...

Some tidbits about a few mostly girl bands I have been listening to lately. First, Those Darlins, a country'ish garage rock band from Tennessee. Saw these girls a couple years ago and two things quickly became evident. They are fantastic live and probably equally as fantastic to party with. They are currently touring all over the east coast promoting their second album 'screws get loose'. Check 'em out if they come to your town. Here is the first song from that album:

Be Your Bro:

Next up, Those Dancing Day, an indie pop band from Sweden. The name comes from Led Zepplins 'Dancing Days', so barely out of their teens you know these Swedish sweet hearts have an ear for cool music history. They blend new wave vibe with the sound of all-girl groups from the 60's with a twist of the Go Go's. They recently released their second album 'daydreams and nightmares'. Here are songs from each of their first two albums:

And the last girl for ladies night is Little Jackie. I discovered her watching a repeat episode of Later...With Jools Holland. The episode was a couple years old and seeing it made me think, 'where the hell have I been'? Little Jackie released her album 'the stoop' in 2008 and it is full of great songs blending soul, hip hop, pop and some fantastic lyrics. I'm not really sure why LJ hasn't blown up to Lily Allen proportions. Looks like she has a new album coming out this year, so maybe 2011 is her time to break out. Here are two great songs:
