And away we go...

I had planned on starting this at the beginning of the year so I am little bit behind considering it is March 16th. Gonna start this blog out reviewing the shows that I have been to some far and I'll take it from there.

MONA-Union Pool, Brooklyn NY 1/16

This Nashville rock band has been around in various line-ups for a few years now but it seems like they have finally settled on a solid foursome. The buzz has been building over the past year, especially in the UK. With a debut album that isn't due out till May, they have been doing pretty well for themselves with appearances on Later...with Jools Holland and being listed on the BBC's and MTV top bands for 2011.

While calling Nashville home, these guys are not country and not southern rock. Their music has garnered comparisons to early Kings of Leon but I'd add a dash of punk for good measure. With slick looks and a polished sound, they will be quick to outgrow venues the size of Union Pool which sold out before the first band even hit the stage tonight. I wasn't surprised to read on their website today that they will be spending part of their summer opening for Kings of Leon at four huge UK shows as well as the great Morrissey for two UK dates. With their stock in the UK rising they are playing at South By Southwest this week laying the groundwork to take hold in the US.

The future is bright for MONA...
